Most people who are underwhelmed by their real estate agent hire a different one.

Christopher Watson decided to become one.

“Even though it was our first home buying experience, I figured an agent should do four basic things: listen to us, educate us, negotiate for us, and handle the details. That wasn’t happening, and I started to think I could do a better job myself.”

Chris set out to earn his real estate license just so he could represent himself. But he quickly realized how much he enjoyed making a personal connection with clients, being their trusted advisor, negotiating with their best interests in mind, orchestrating all the details.

Chris’s background gave him a strong foundation for real estate. He had honed his exceptional talents for organization, coordination and timing as an expert in photography production, and acquired his assured decision-making and business skills over seven years as a director on the board of a major insurance company.

Chris’s clients benefit not only from his own skill and experience, but the expertise of his colleagues at Prudential California Realty and the strength and resources of its parent company, HomeServices of America, Inc., an affiliate of Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway. He also draws on a wealth of connections with professionals in other fields to ensure that his clients receive the best services across the board.

Despite his vast support network, Chris’s buyers and sellers work with him and him alone. “It’s very important to me to give each client a successful outcome,” he says. “For them, I am the guy. There’s nobody between us.  And when my clients begin insisting that their family and close friends call me for help, I know I’ve gotten it right.”

Because he prefers to work smart as well as hard, Chris designed a streamlined process for helping his clients to quickly get focused and move forward. This not only makes home buying or selling a more enjoyable, less stressful and time-consuming experience for them, but gives Chris more time to design a strategy tailored to their needs.

That customized service is more valuable today than ever, says Chris, because buyers and sellers are so savvy, diligent, and sensitive to price and value. “This economy has made me even more aware of the true worth of a skilled agent,” he says. “I’m constantly fine-tuning my approach to giving my clients a clear perspective and then getting the best results based on their unique goals.”

Chris has an insider’s appreciation for the appeal of Pacific Palisades. He and his family still reside in the community where they bought their first home — and launched his real estate career.
